Creating more opportunities for coverage
An established venture capital firm in the blockchain and crypto space was interested in creating more opportunities for press coverage.
Objective
Increase media presence, specifically with top-tier outlets, with the overall goal of developing a profile as the go-to source on crypto and blockchain topics.
A female-led venture capital firm established a profile within the media landscape but lacked consistency as a primary source among top-tier outlets. Additionally, the firm’s founder became interested in pursuing feature coverage of her career and accomplishments in the space.
The firm engaged ERPR to foster relationships with leading media outlets that regularly cover blockchain and crypto spaces, as well as build the founder’s profile as a go-to industry source. This project called on ERPR to deliver high-profile coverage of the founder and her success in a new and overtly male-dominated field.
Strategy
With a number of top-tier press coverage already secured, the challenge involved creating sustainable relevance, despite a glaring lack of timely news items in the pipeline. ERPR designed a campaign that focused on filling coverage gaps and creating repetitive trade publication coverage to build credibility as a mainstream outlet source.
ERPR crafted an array of storylines, some news-driven, others focusing on the founder’s career and expertise in conjunction with the firm’s area of focus. These various stories allowed us to approach many diverse media outlets, creating timely opportunities that could then be leveraged to generate more traction and interest from other media outlets.
Results
Over the course of two months, ERPR developed key media relationships for the venture capital firm, significantly elevated the founder’s industry profile, and secured a number of trade and top-tier placements.
